Hi, I'm Megan

If you want to integrate structured literacy into your general education classroom, you're in the right place.

I have created resources for you to bring structured literacy into your classroom, no matter where you are on your journey. Whether you’re just starting out or have been teaching structured literacy for years- I’m sure you’ll find (and love) these resources. Your time is valuable and this field can be exhausting, especially when teaching students to read. I am here to give you more time while still give your students an amazing phonics experience within the walls of your classroom.

I know what it's like to KNOW something needs to change in your reading instruction but be LOST on where to start.

I know because I was there.

My first year of teaching I was placed in a first grade classroom after working with middle school students throughout my college placements. I was lost, and my curriculum did NOT help. We had a set of decodables that followed the phonics scope and sequence, but it wasn’t the scope and sequence we actually used. We supplements a stand-alone phonics program into our reading curriculum, and the two did not mesh. Everything felt disjointed. Our curriculum also contained leveled readers that I pulled as a resource, and my high students loved them. My low students, however, were never making progress. Something wasn’t working, but I didn’t know what. That was the start of my journey to better reading instruction, and I have learned SO much along the way. I have since been an advocate for a new reading program within our building, I have been LETRS trained, and IMSE Orton Gillingham trained. I have dove deep into better reading instruction for my students and I am passionate about helping other teachers make the change in their classrooms as well.

You only know what you know.

Until we know better, we keeping doing what we know. And as backwards as that sentence is, it’s not your fault you weren’t taught this in college. It’s not your fault you have a curriculum that doesn’t align with how students learn to read. But now that you’re here, and now that you know, we can make changes to do better. Because once we know better, we do better.
